  1. White background very appropriate for message of graffiti. Sure other anarchistic graffiti artists would have chosen different subject matter, but time for moms and their concerns to be heard too.

All we want is for our children to survive in the "jungle". Clean, healthy and prepared for all the germs and disease out there in the big city, beyond moms protective arms and the high walls surrounding the "hut". All the age old historical values - still the same and necessary base for any decent human being wanting to be part of an orderly, functioning society.

That is also why we have become taxi moms. Just another attempt in ensuring the daily safety of our children. Which brings me to the name of your blog.

I know it refers to graphic art (grafiese kuns) and is a combination of Afrikaans and English (thus symbolising the heritage of a white South African). It does however also encapsulate something of the dangers of living in a city embroiled in a state of flux and changeover, the death of an old way of life and even death itself.

    Am I going too far?

  2. Not at all. It is also about finding one's identity in an (as noted, dangerous) African city, with children leaving the "hut", testing a different kind of freedom/ subversiveness for myself. Looking for a new voice. Commenting. Even entertaining and connecting.
